چکیده

The taxonomy and phylogeny of the Miocene to Recent genus Sphaeroidinellopsis have been documented in previous studies, but evolution this lineage remains unclear. Some authors debated past, choosing a variety parameters discriminate morphospecies. Here we present new scanning electron microscope analyses specimens from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 925 (Ceara Rise, western equatorial Atlantic) ODP 959 (Deep Ivorian Basin, eastern Atlantic). Our study reveals transitional individuals disjuncta–Sphaeroidinellopsis kochi, speciation event never described previously. These are characterized by extreme morphological features such as elongated sac-like final chambers, requiring amendments current classification these In paper, an alternative hypothesis is presented discussed, assess observations within evolutionary mosaic Sphaeroidinellopsis.

Systematic Taxonomy of Exceptionally Well-preserved Planktonic Foraminifera from the Eocene/oligocene Boundary of Tanzania

Diverse and extremely well-preserved assemblages of planktonic foraminifera were recovered from three drill holes through the Eocene/Oligocene boundary in southern Tanzania (Tanzania Drilling Project Sites 11, 12, and 17). The excellent state of preservation of the tests permits detailed investigation of wall textures and surface ornamentation, helping us to elucidate details of functional morp...

Larger benthic foraminifera from the Middle Eocene

Larger benthic foraminifera (LBF) are common and diverse throughout the Paleogene sediments of southern Tanzania, but have previously been little studied. A recent programme of onshore drilling known as the Tanzania Drilling Project has recovered large proportion of this succession for palaeoclimatic and palaeontological study. The sediment is largely a hemipelagic clay with secondary gravity s...

Distribution and Paleoecology of the Middle Jurassic Foraminifera from Eastern Alborz (Goznawwi section)

Analysis of benthic foraminiferal assemblages was performed in Callovian deposits of the Farsian Formation Northeastern Alborz; Iran. The sequence of Callovian at the Goznawwi area consists mainly of soft marls , which contain high-diversity calcareous assemblages. In this foraminiferal succession nine morphogroups were differentiated according to shell architecture (general shape, mode of coil...

Systematic Paleontology, Distribution and Abundance of Cenozoic Benthic Foraminifera from Kish Island, Persian Gulf, Iran

Abstract Foraminifera are one of the most important fossil microorganisms in the Persian Gulf. During micropaleontological investigations in 5 sampling stations around the Kish Island, 14 genera and 15 species of dead Cenozoic benthic foraminifera were determined and described. Next to these assemblages, other organisms, such as microgastropods and spines of echinids were also looked into. In ...
